New Tesla Model Y arrives in showrooms as over 100,000 orders pour in

Less than a fortnight ago, Tesla unveiled the refreshed Model Y to the world, bringing with it a myriad of improvements over the current model. Now, the first production vehicles are already reaching showrooms in China as demand surges.

A video shared by EV enthusiast DriveGreen80167 on X shows the cars arriving at a Tesla showroom and being unloaded from the back of a vehicle transporter truck.

It also gives a glimpse of the new tail lights along with a Launch series badge which indicates that this model has special interior upgrades for first customers of the new Model Y.

The front of the car is also showcased with the new light bar, which acts as daytime running lights even when the headlights are not on.

Another video showcases the boot, and the new automatic seat folding features and also shows the ambient lighting at the front and rear of the cabin.

The rear lightbar is also illuminated, showing how it glows onto the new Tesla badge on the rear of the car.

These latest videos of the new Model Y arriving at showrooms come only days after reports surfaced that the company has received over 100,000 orders in just 10 days.

This is quite an achievement, given the new Model Y is priced higher than the outgoing model in a highly competitive electric SUV market.

The new Model Y features improved range, faster acceleration, updated exterior styling with new paints, interior lighting, ventilated front seats, rear passenger controls and entertainment screen, powered second-row reclining seats, upgraded suspension, upgraded acoustic glass for a quieter ride and much more.

Locally, the pricing starts at $63,400 for the single-motor RWD variant, while the dual-motor Long Range AWD variant bumps that to $73,400 before on-road costs. This is an increase of $7,500 on the RWD and $3,500 on the AWD variants of the 2024 model.

The First 2025 Tesla Model Y vehicles are expected to be delivered to customers in May, with earlier arrivals in showrooms. It might even be much earlier given the recent sighting of the new Model Y in Japan, hinting that right-hand-drive production has already begun.

With the first showroom vehicles arriving in China and the initial demand being fairly high, Tesla is poised to be in a good position to grow sales as production ramps up in China for local and international markets in the coming months.
