Last month, Inchcape, the distributor of well-known brands like Subaru and Peugeot, unveiled the specifications of Deepal S07, an electric SUV by one of China’s leading car manufacturers, Changan.
Now, Deepal’s first EV pricing has been revealed at Sydney’s international EV auto show, which opened its doors today to the general public. Prices of the S07 electric SUV will start from $53,900 before on-roads, which makes it a competitive offering in a crowded medium electric SUV market.
For this price, drivers can expect a range of 475 km with its large 79.97 kWh lithium battery pack.
This can be charged from 30-80% on a DC fast charger in about 35 minutes at a peak charging speed of up to 92 kW. 11 kW AC charging is also available.
The battery also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability that can be discharged at a rate of up to 3.3 kWh, which is ideal for powering things when on the go.
This battery will power a single rear-mounted motor powertrain that produces 160kW of power and 320 Nm of torque to drive the rear wheels. This powertrain has a rated consumption of 18.6 kWh/100 km.
The Deepal S07 has a length of 4,750 mm, a width of 1,930 mm and is 1,625 mm high. These dimensions are similar to Australia’s best-selling electric car in 2024, the Tesla Model Y.
There are multiple storage options available. In the boot, there is 445 litres of space with the seats up. When the rear seats are down, this increases to 1,385 litres.
On top of that, unlike some competitors like the Xpeng G6, there is a usable frunk with 125 litres of space. This is slightly more than the 117 litres found on the Model Y.
On the inside, two trims are offered, including one in black and the other in orange, offering customer options like those seen on Tesla models.
The highlight of the interior is the large 15.6-inch floating centre infotainment screen, which can be rotated 15 degrees to provide the driver with a better angle when driving.
Within the infotainment screen, Apple Carplay and Android Auto are also available to owners to bring their most useful apps into the car.
On top of the screen, there is also a heads-up display.
The S07 is available in 7 colours, which include:
The Deepal S07 comes with a 7-year/160,000 km warranty for the vehicle and an 8-year/240,000 km warranty on the battery.
The Deepal S07 is available to interested customers now and will be available at four dealers to kick things off which open on Monday.
Two locations are in Sydney while the other two are in Melbourne. More locations to be announced in coming months.
“Following our first public engagement event at the Sydney International EV, now, these initial retail locations will provide the perfect opportunity for EV enthusiasts, and those looking for their first EV, to engage with and learn about the groundbreaking DEEPAL S07.”, said Cormac Cafolla, Deepal Australia’s general manager.
First deliveries of the Deepal S07 are expected to begin in December.
First four official Deepal locations will be:
• DEEPAL Parramatta | 60-64 Church St, Parramatta NSW 2150
• DEEPAL North Shore | 24 Herbert Street, Artarmon NSW 2064
• DEEPAL Melbourne City | 406 Victoria Street, North Melbourne VIC 3051
• DEEPAL Doncaster | 560 Doncaster Rd, Doncaster, VIC 3108

Efficiency specs not great, but good in all other respects and a competitive price to the Model Y.
Probably won't affect RAV4 hybrid sales much though.
Actually thought Deepal was an Indian brand until recently ^_^
Same for Haval as well. Don't know why, but they sound Indian.
I got a hat-trick at Deepal once.
It is south of Pune, not far from Bhopal and close to Koppal.
3rd Test 1965,
a real dust bowl, it was 40 Celsius
, spin from both ends,
Richie and I bowled in tandem without break from from lunch to tea
Why would a manufacturer choose a ternary battery over a LFP. Maybe the vehicle was to heavy andc LFP weight would give even less efficiency.
Another SUV at last - just what we need - where's the Seagull anyone?
I think it is a great car, BUT it is very similar to many other Chinese vehicles entering our country. What is it's stand out feature?
I say this, because as I am very interested in the Shark to replace my great wildtrak, the reason? because I can drive around town tail pipe emission free, pick up the grandkids etc, and my boat is only 2 tons, plus my Wildtrak service last week cost me $900 NZ , -- no off-road -- very low k's etc, a rip off! This is what I mean about a stand out feature. By the way I have an MG ev for around town duties.
