Last week, reports suggested that trial production of the upcoming refreshed 2025 Tesla Model Y had begun in Shanghai. Just days later, the first batch of the new model have been spotted, revealing key new details.
The first of two sightings was of multiple Model Y on the back of a transporter truck in Shanghai. One photo shows a black Model Y with the front and rear covered.
This photo shows the passenger seat being similar to the current Model 3, which was refreshed over 12 months ago.
Mr li shared this on X before being re-shared by Tesla Newswire, and soon after, another truck was spotted with multiple covered Model Y vehicles being driven away from Tesla’s Shanghai factory.
The next group of photos reveal new key details about the upcoming version of the world’s best-selling car.
A black Model Y was spotted being tested on the road, and engineers were seen sitting in the passenger seat with a laptop.
From the front, there is a lightbar that could run along the car’s width, which is not yet found on the current Model Y.
If Tesla were to incorporate a light bar, then it would be similar to the Cybertruck and the recently unveiled Robotaxi, also known as the Cybercab.
Still looking at the front, the headlights have been moved lower and now sit underneath the light bar.
On the covered rear, when brakes are applied, there is a red glow that confirms the use of a rear lightbar, which is similar to the Cybercab.
This rear lightbar was also seen in some leaked photos earlier this year and will likely be incorporated in the 2025 Tesla Model Y.
The refreshed Model Y will form part of multiple new product reveals in 2025. These include the promise of more affordable models, which Tesla’s latest report confirmed will be in the first half of 2025.
On top of that, there is a high expectation that Tesla will also reveal the long-awaited Roadster, which is bound to showcase the limits of electric performance vehicles.
The refreshed Model Y is expected to go into early volume production on this side of Christmas, with official reveal and deliveries likely in early Q1 2025.

So it's now undeniable that the companies and the economies that WANT to make the massive inroads into the future (in order to capitalse ffs) will actually make the fucking main inroads into the future!
Surprise surprise, you dumb Trump-supporting morons!
We need to support the brain-power of the real entire world - not the completely fucked enclosed dumb-power of some moron-Trump "utopia". Now up to you U.S.
i.e. (in case it's not clear) vote against idiot Trump, that fucking silly dingbat!!!
I voted for Harris a week ago 💙💙
I voted for Harris and I can't wait to my the 2025 model Y. I would even be happy with the mini refresh that china currently has.
This is an Australian website. We can't vote for Dump and Dips#it and we are thankful for that.
Yes Musk is a moronyes he was an illegal immigrant, yes he is a greedy sexual predator pig but enough of it all. Let's enjoy the work the aTesla engineers have done and forget politics
Sadly, politics is inter-twined in it all. Sadly, there is no such thing as the free market (in which fossil fuels would simply die the natural death of an inefficient Dodo ..... and which currently enriches the most lazy/stupid/inefficient people on the planet - the Arabs and the Russians).
Musk didn't invent Tesla so I'm not buying a musk in buying a Tesla. I support his mission on lowering our carbon footprint and reducing emissions but other than that I don't agree with anything he has been subscribing to politically. Just like when he said his son died I felt so horrible for him until I learned that his son had a sex change and that's why he's saying that his son died. That's his child he should love his kid no matter what and it wasn't done without his consent. It's not legal in any state but they are using that as political ammunition off baseless lies. I'm a gay man who believes in human rights and abortion rights. I do believe that there should be standards in place that an age limiter must be put in place until they are old enough to make informed decisions and fully understand the pros and cons along with the ramifications of their choices. What we do with our bodies is our business and no one else's that's just a given. Just like abortion should be left up to the woman who has to carry that child and most don't get abortions because it's convenient but I'm sure there are cases like pennsatucky from orange is the new black scenario that does happen.
To all those who say we should IGNORE Elon's political stance, please view this video and then come back and confirm that viewpoint again ... if you still can.
https://youtu.be/d7-DvUpGTCU
Is that a political stance or is it a sales strategy?
Both.
I see that, a day later, nobody has come back to defend Musk after viewing that video
So the argument now is: forget about the evil CEO who wants to take over the world, and buy the Tesla car because of the great engineering. Amirite?
Gotta buy more stock!!
Oh Dear what is going on with the Driven Comments Section. Seems pretty un-moderated, Yikes
I can only guess that it is hoped that adults will use this forum responsibly.
The voting system rather belies that.
However, reporting comments you don't like is childish and i applaud the Driven for not going down that route.
The model Y will have to come down in price to compete in Australia, with the Chinese models.
