The latest Chinese EV brand to enter the Australian market, Leapmotor, has announced the pricing of its C10 electric SUV which happens to be one of the most aggressive so far.
The entry-level Style variant is priced from $45,888 before on-roads and going up to $49,888 for the more premium Design variant.
Given the size of the C10, which sits at 4.74 metres in length, it’ll bring a whole lot more space at a price usually reserved for smaller electric SUVs like the BYD Atto 3.
Both variants are quite feature-rich, which include some features seen in EVs that are priced much higher than the C10. These include:
The C10 will be powered by a single 160 kW rear-mounted motor that delivers up to 320 Nm of torque.
On the battery front, both will offer the same 69.9 kWh battery which can deliver up to 420 km of WLTP range.
The battery pack will be able to be charged from 30-80% in 30 minutes and can be fast-charged at a rate of up to 84 kW. This is slightly below the BYD Atto 3, but is reasonable for an affordable offering in the market. The car also has vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities.
Along with that, one-pedal driving will also be available which for many will improve the driving experience as well as improve efficiency.
The C10 will also have a large 14.6-inch infotainment screen along with a 10.25-inch driver instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. This is preferred by many drivers who may not be ready to go for an EV with a single infotainment screen.
When it comes to colours, the C10 will be available in 5 of them with premium paints (excluding Pearl White) coming as an option for $990:
On the warranty-front the C10 will come with a 7-year 160,000km warranty on C10 as well as a 8-year 160,000km warranty on the battery pack.
Leapmotor has entered into an international joint venture with global car giant Stellantis, which will be bringing the brand to international markets in Europe and Australia as well.
With plans to get the first vehicles into Australia by next month, the brand aims to have a fairly quick launch schedule which should help it get ahead of some other competitors in the ever-competitive electric SUV segment, currently dominated by the Tesla Model Y.
