Last week we rolled out a major update to our comments section. We understand that some readers were frustrated, but they were needed to improve our website performance, the management of comments, and hopefully the user experience.
The update involved switching platforms from Disqus to WordPress Native. Over the past week we have been carefully analysing the user experience of the updated platform and reviewing feedback from our readers.
As a result we have made the following updates to the comment section on The Driven.
- We have integrated wpDiscuz with wpNative which will provide a better user experience including the ability to vote other comments, edit your comment after publishing, and order comments by newest or most voted.
- We have removed the requirement to register/login to comment. Instead we simply require a name, email address, and to tick the reCAPTCHA box when commenting. Depending on your cookies settings your name and email address will be pre-filled when using the same browser so you don’t have to retype these details each time you want to comment.
Comments made on the website since the change last week will remain visible following today’s updates.
Thanks again to all our readers for your patience and your feedback, and apologies to those who found it difficult to use. Please keep the feedback rolling in and don’t hesitate to reach our to [email protected] with any questions or concerns. We’ll be sure to provide any further updates as they happen.
