South Korean automaker Hyundai has unveiled the new 2025 version of its popular Ioniq 5 electric SUV, which boasts a range of new features, styling updates, technologies, and two new battery sizes that can deliver up to 570 kilometres in range.

Hyundai first revealed the Ioniq 5 back in early 2021, the first of its new electric-only Ioniq brand that has been built on a new platform. It was followed by a 2024 facelift, and the Ioniq 5 N performance variant, and then Ioniq 6 electric sedan or fastback.

It won multiple awards, both in Australia and around the globe, and still remains popular with more than 500 sales so far this year. (See The Driven’s month by month sales data here).

Two models are available in the Extended Range variant which is fitted with an 84kWh battery, up from 77 kWh. The rear wheel drive model puts out 168kW of power and 350Nm of torque for anywhere between 570km with the 19” wheels or down to 512km with the N Line package.

The HTRAC dual motor all wheel drive variant packs a lot more power, with 74kW plus 165kW of power and 255Nm plus 350Nm of torque, and a range of up to 500km.

Exterior design highlights include “bolder design cues” and a revised front bumper, skid plate, and hidden lighting, paired with revised 19” and 20” alloy wheels.
