Tesla is known for innovation and constant upgrades to the software of its million of EVs that have been delivered to customers. Many of these upgrades are under the skin but on rare occasions, there are exterior changes too. The latest of these has now been an addition of a new colour to the current Model 3 electric sedan.
Tesla has now added a sixth colour to its electric sedan offering in Australia which comes in the form of the Quicksilver paint. It was first reported by ARM, a regular reader of The Driven, on X:

The new Quicksilver paint can be added for an additional $2,600 to the price of the car when purchased with the standard white paint.
It’s also the same price as the Ultra Red paint which is the halo colour of Tesla’s Model 3 vehicles as it’s regularly seen in Tesla’s promotional materials of that car. The Quicksilver paint to its Model Y configurator in Australia in April.
This paint is a multi coat option and was first unveiled in Europe back in 2022 with the opening of Teslaās Berlin Gigafactory.
Despite the availability of the new paint in Europe, Tesla kept the midnight silver as the primary silver/grey option on the Model Ys it builds in China for local and international markets, including ours in Australia.
That was of course until April when Quicksilver was available for right hand drive markets like ours, and now for the Model 3 as well as the Model Y.
In 2024, Tesla has sold 10,690 Model 3 vehicles in Australia, making it by far the best-selling electric sedan in the market and well ahead of the next EV sedan. That of course being the BYD Seal with 4,092 sales.
Given the number of changes to the upgraded hardware of the refreshed 2024 Model 3, significant price cuts and now new paint option, sales trends are likely to keep the Model 3 on the electric sedan podium for the foreseeable future.
