Chinese car maker GWM has once again cut prices on its Ora electric hatchback in Australia. This time, though, it’s on the Extended and GT trims, bringing their prices down by $2,000.
Now the Ora range is priced at:
- Standard Range – $35,990 driveaway
- Extended Range – $38,990 driveaway
- Ultra – $43,990 driveaway
- GT – $44,990 driveaway
On GWM’s website, the company states that the Extended Range offer, which proposes a saving of $2,000 off normal driveaway of $40,990, will end on July 31.
This comes only months after the price cut that made GWM Ora the most affordable EV on the market, starting at $35,990 driveaway, and a host of other price cuts by a range of car makers – both in the sub-$40,000 range and the mid range market dominated by Tesla and others.

Back in April 2023, GWM revealed the pricing and specs of its first and only EV to launch in the Australian market. That was the GWM Ora electric hatchback. At that time, there weren’t many other affordable electric hatchbacks in the market.
Driveaway prices on the two variants that have seen the latest cut were $51,000 and $57,000 respectively. That’s over $12,000 off the original prices, making it one of the most heavily discounted EVs in the market.
Since then, new models from the likes of BYD and MG have been launched with better sales success than seen by GWM’s Ora, which has sold 478 models so far, around half those of its major rivals.
The Standard Range model of the Ora comes with a 48 kWh battery pack which can offer up to 310 km of WLTP range. This battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 41 minutes.
This range can be bumped up in the Extended Range version with a bigger 63 kWh battery which will get closer to 420 km in WLTP range.
Both variants come with a motor that can deliver up to 126 kW of power and 250Nm of torque.
At the time of its launch last year, the Ora Cat came with many standard safety features, including safety features that led to it receiving EuroNCAP’s five-star safety rating.
The model also comes with a 7-year / unlimited km warranty, 5-years roadside assistance and 5-year Capped Price Servicing. The battery receives warranty coverage of 8 years.
New prices on the Extended Range and GT variants are expected to last until the end of July for interested buyers.
