Mini unveils Australian pricing for electric Aceman, its first electric only model

The iconic motor brand Mini has unveiled pricing for the Mini Aceman, an electric five-door crossover vehicle that will be released in Australia this year with a starting price of $55,990 before on road costs.

Mini Australia announced in April that it would be bringing the Aceman to its local lineup by the end of the year. The Aceman E and Aceman SE will be the first Mini model to be available exclusively with an electric powertrain, and is a key part of the company’s longer-term efforts to become an all-electric brand.

The company has already offered its Mini Cooper electric in Australia, but in the first three years of 2024 sold just 18 units. It has not provided data for the last two months. It recently cut the asking price to just under $50,000 drive away. (See The Driven’s month by month data on all EV sales in Australia).

The Aceman E will feature a 42.6kWh battery with a range of up to 310km (WLTP) and power output of 135kW and maximum torque of 290Nm, allowing acceleration from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds.

A more powerful 54.2kWh battery gives the Aceman SE a bump in specs, with a range of up to 406km (WLTP), power output of 160kW and maximum torque of 330Nm, and acceleration from 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds.

Pricing for the Mini Aceman E starts at $55,990 before on-road costs and comes in Classic trim with a choice of either Rebel Red or Melting Silver III, both with a jet-black roof and black/blue interior.

A number of driving aids and safety features are included as standard, including adaptive cruise control, Mini’s Parking Assistant Plus with Surround View, and steering and lane control. Other features include front seat heating, a panorama glass roof, sport steering wheel, and a 6-speaker 100W sound system.

As befits a “sports electric” model, the Aceman SE is a bit more expensive, starting from $60,990 before on-road costs, but also comes with a few more options and standard features.

In addition to the two colours available on the Aceman E, the SE will also be available in Indigo Sunset Blue with Favoured Trim design elements featuring silver highlights and a unique “Dark Petrol” interior colour scheme and John Cooper Works seats.

The Aceman SE also offers a 10-speaker, 315W Harman/Kardon Premium sound system.

Both the Aceman E and SE will go on sale in the fourth quarter.
