Over the last few years, BYD has become the fastest-growing car company in the world. During this journey, the company has created a few sub-brands.
One of these is the more premium Denza brand, under which a whole lineup of premium, mainly EVs, are on offer.
Earlier this month, the brand teased a render of an upcoming vehicle. At that time, Denza provided some hints on its design and a name to go with it.
Now more details have emerged in the government regulatory framework run by the ministry of industry and information technology (MIIT) and initially spotted by cnevpost.
The car is powered by a tri-motor powertrain which comes with a single front motor, and two rear-mounted motors.
This setup will provide a combined power output of a massive 710 kW, making it one of the most powerful vehicles that BYD will produce.
Pricing of this wagon is expected to be under 400,000 RMB or $A88,000 which is in line with models like the Denza N7 SUV.
Top speed is set at 240 km/h, and while it’s unlikely that many owners of this wagon would ever take this to the track, some may still choose to do so. For comparison, another performance wagon like the Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Tourismo can reach speeds of 250 km/h with its 500 kW powertrain.
Size-wise, it’s also longer than the 4,974 mm Porsche Taycan Cross Tourismo by coming in at 5,180 mm. The additional length appears to have added extra weight too, making the Z9 GT weigh 2,875 kg.
Battery on this Denza model will be supplied by Findreams which is BYD’s battery division which also supplies the blade batteries found in the EVs the brand currently sells in Australia.
As per the regulatory filing, the vehicle is in its final stages of approval before it can go on sale.
Previous BYD and Denza filings have indicated that the models found in this framework are expected to go on sale within 6 months of first being sighted. This means that the Denza Z9 GT could be available to customers before the final quarter of 2024.
