Earlier this month, Tesla’s most northern supercharger site was spotted being constructed in the town of Bowen in northern Queensland. Tesla has now officially opened this site, and is making progress on a few more across the country.

The 6 stall V3 supercharger site that has gone online this week in Bowen is located on the corner of Soldiers Rd and Bowen Connection Road.

This site has 6 of Tesla’s V3 chargers with each stall capable of charging at speeds of up to 250 kW. One of the bays appears to be made for vehicles to drive into, which can help if towing a trailer.

According to Tesla this site was also co-funded by the Queensland Government. It is also open to non-Tesla EVs, which can be charged at this location via the Tesla app at a rate of $0.85 c/kWh.

The newly opened Bowen supercharger site is located just over 500 km from Rockhampton which was previously the most-northern supercharging location in Australia.

Another update from members of the EV community has shown that there is good progress being made on the V4 supercharger site in Orange.

Keenon on X shared an update on this site with it likely going online this weekend.

Another site spotted this week is in Mildura, Victoria which is now under construction. This site has 4 superchargers and is located close to supermarkets and amenities on Fifteenth Street in, Mildura.

As EV uptake takes off soaring and reaching new highs in 2023, the rollout of fast chargers is ramping up to keep pace with the charging needs of the increasing EV fleet across Australia. Tesla is continuing to roll out more sites that are open to non-Tesla owners as well.
