One of Australia’s quickest EVs is about to get a boost in power and overall performance. The specifications of the upcoming Tesla Model 3 Ludicrous, previously known as the Model 3 Performance, have been leaked.
Upcoming vehicle documentation sighted in South Korea reveals a significant bump up in power and the speed at which the peak power is delivered from the motors. The summary of the specifications was shared on X by an EV enthusiast user eivissacopter.
From this, the weight of the performance-focused Model 3 remains the same along with the LG-supplied battery pack.
The weight of the current model is 1919 kg, lighter than many other newer performance-orientated vehicles, including the recently launched Hyundai Ioniq 5 N which sits at 2,230 kg.
The front motor on the car remains the same while the rear appears to be new with more power output.
Power output on this motor has jumped significantly from 220 kW in the previous generation model to 303 kW. That’s a 38% rise in the power delivered from the rear motor.
This also brings the total power output from the dual-motor powertrain to 461 kW.
That’s still under the heavier Model S Dual Motor sedan sold in the US and many other countries. According to evdb, the 2024 Tesla Model S Dual Motor delivers 505 kW to a similar powertrain.
Another key change spotted in these leaked specifications documents has been when the peak power is delivered on the upcoming Model 3 Ludicrous.
The peak power from the motors is delivered from the motors at 110 km/h, up from 75 km/h. This is likely to make the car much faster on the track, improving lap times for those owners that would take it around a track.
On top of the specifications seen in South Korea, a few more images have emerged of a Europe-bound Tesla Model 3 Ludicrous.
In the new shots, we can see the more aggressive front, the larger rear spoiler and the diffuser setup.
On the inside, the new bucket seats are also spotted through the windscreen from the front of the car. The new seats are expected to provide better support, especially in track driving conditions.
The launch of the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 Ludicrous is imminent with orders now likely to open in the second quarter of the year.
