Tesla’s supercharger rollout – more sites under construction

One of the key benefits of owning a Tesla has been access to the ever-growing Tesla supercharger network, which is the most reliable charging network in the world.

Since September, Tesla has started to open the network to non-Tesla EVs, making it easier for thousands of EV drivers to charge when on the go.

Now in 2024, Tesla is continuing to expand its network with several supercharger sites being spotted by the EV community that are under construction.

One of these sightings was shared by Jay on X Albany WA, where a 6-stall supercharger location is currently being constructed. Each charger is expected to be rated at 250 kW. The site is located on the south coast of WA and is just over 400 km from Perth.

Another site spotted was in NSW at Raymond Terrace which is just north of Newcastle in the state. It was first spotted by user moa999 on TMC and then shared on X.

At this stage, it appears to be a large 12-stall site which Tesla has been known to rollout in busier locations.

This site is also one of the sites that have been co-funded by the NSW government. The awarded site shows 15 charging bays in the grant documentation, so the number of chargers may likely be more than 12.

Heading further north, Australia’s most northern Tesla supercharger site is now also under construction. This one is located in Bowen, Queensland.

It was first shared on Tesla owners Australia Facebook group by Gregory C and is at a Woolworths carpark in town, not far from the Bruce Highway.

Like Albany in WA, this is also a 6-stall supercharger site and is located just over 500 km from Rockhampton which is currently the most-northern supercharging location in Australia. The Rockhampton site with 7 superchargers opened just before Christmas in 2023.

In recent weeks. Tesla has also opened North Lakes in Queensland with 9 stalls. It has also been seen to be constructing another location with its next-generation V4 supercharger in Orange NSW.

With EV uptake soaring and reaching new highs in February, the rollout of reliable fast chargers is becoming more important than ever. It’s great to see Tesla’s rollout continuing which will likely benefit all EV drivers when they hit the road.
