BYD has seen rapid growth and EV sales success in recent years from its mid-sized electric SUV, the Atto 3. Ā After two years in the market, BYD has launched its updated Atto 3 in select markets in Asia, including Singapore and now in Japan.

On BYD Japan’s X page, the company shared a new video with the translated post revealing a new colour that will be offered: ā€œUpdated BYD Atto 3 released today! The long-awaited new colour (cosmos black) is now available.ā€

On the outside, several key changes have been made to the right-hand-drive model heading to Japan which includes:

  • New black paint colour
  • The rear fish scale pattern panels are now in black (previously silver)
  • Rear ā€œBYDā€ badge (previously ā€œBuild Your Dreamsā€)

Moving into the inside, there is now a larger new 15.6-inch touchscreen which is an upgrade from the previous 12.8-inch screen.

This new screen is likely to be the one currently available on the BYD Seal in Australia which is rotatable in either portrait or landscape. It also has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, giving drivers a good mapping, media and infotainment experience.

In Australia, the brand sells three models (Atto 3, Dolphin and the Seal) and collectively, these models sold 12,438 vehicles with the Atto 3 making up nearly 90% of the total sales.

Currently, the Atto 3 is sold in two variants which include the Standard and Extended variant. The Extended variant with the larger battery offers up to 420 km of WLTP range.

Prices on the Standard variant start at $48,011 while the extended variant is priced from $51,011 before on-roads.

As of the writing of this article, there are vehicles available in inventory with a discount of $2,023 available on 2023 model-year cars.

2024 BYD Atto 3 vehicles are expected to arrive in the coming months with local pricing and specifications yet to be announced.
