Swedish EV maker Polestar has officially launched its much anticipated Polestar 4 electric SUV, with Australian and European customers now able to place orders online.

With an impressive drivetrain and new battery pack, the entry level Long range Single motor variant starts at $81,500 and the Long Range Dual Motor from $93,500. Polestar says its new model is positioned between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in terms of size and price.

The dual motor variant is rated at 400 kW (544 hp) and will do 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The single motor version has 200 kW and will take 7.1 seconds to get to 100km/h. It says it is the fastest of its EVs to date.

Both variants have a 100 kWh CATL Nickle-manganese-colbalt battery pack. WLTP range single motor is 610 km and 580 km on the dual motor. Polestar says production is planned for mid-year with first deliveries expected from August.

“The introduction of Polestar 4 into all our markets through the course of 2024 is key to our success, adding this third model to our line-up,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

“Polestar 4 tackles the premium performance class in the D-SUV segment. Polestar 4’s innovative interpretation of an SUV coupé offers great interior space and a stunning appearance.”

The company says Polestar 4 sees the continuation of key elements first shown by the Polestar Precept concept car, coming to life. This includes eliminating the rear window which enables a new kind of immersive rear occupant experience.

The Polestar 4 is built on the premium Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) developed by Geely Holding with a long 2,999 mm wheelbase. Overall length is 4,840 mm, width is 2,139mm and height is 1,534 mm.
