Former prime minister Scott Morrison will be remembered in many different ways, but for the EV community it will be for his election campaign assertion that electric vehicles “won’t tow your trailer. It’s not going to tow your boat. It’s not going to get you out to your favourite camping spot with your family.”
Of course, EVs can do all those things. But what delicious irony that – barely three days after a Tesla that is towing a caravan around Australia parked in front of his Sydney electoral office that reports emerged that Morrison has announced his long awaited decision to leave parliament.
It did not go unnoticed. EV enthusiast Rob Dean reposted a picture of the Tesla Model 3 in front of his electoral office.
The Tesla is being driven by “Atto Girl” and partner, who wrote on their Facebook page a few days ago:
“We couldn’t leave Sydney without attempting to say hello to Scotty Morrison and showing him our car, van and sharing our travel stories at his electoral office in Cronulla. Sadly, despite parking 
outside and leaving a voicemail 
he was still off on holidays, probably in Hawaii 
.”
Note: In case it isn’t clear, we don’t really think the two events are related, but we do think it’s a bit of fun. Morrison’s remarks, along with those about battery storage, were pretty stupid. Sadly, not much has changed in the Coalition and much of mainstream media since then.
But, as one of our readers has already pointed out, hats off to the council, or councillor, who organised for an EV parking space to be installed outside Morrison’s office. Hope it didn’t ruin his weekend.
