It’s been nearly two months since Tesla started delivering the first Cybertrucks to employees and selected customers. Just before the delivery event, multiple Cybertrucks were showcased in Tesla stores across the US.
Now, Tesla is taking the Cybertruck outside of the US, including to Asia, in China. The news came as a bit of a surprise and was first reported by Tesla enthusiast Sawyer M on X.
A post from Tesla in China reveals that Tesla will be sending the Cybertruck to China for a national tour, allowing fans and customers in the country to decide where the unique steel-bodied utilitarian vehicle begins its tour.
On the back of this report, some enthusiasts found the move strange given the Cybertruck may not be road-legal in parts of the country: “Weird, Elon said that getting Cybertruck road legal in China would be very difficult.🤔”, one said.
Even Australian members of the Tesla community chimed in after the Model S and Model X were cancelled for our local market in 2023: “Australia please. Townsville is waiting patiently!”
Other markets like Canada are also getting a glimpse of Tesla’s halo vehicle by one making an appearance at the Montreal auto show this weekend:
This would still be in North America but will capture the attention of the world and the automotive industry more broadly, given the popularity of this auto show.
With around 2 million accumulated reservation holders since the vehicle was first announced back in 2019, there is no shortage of interested buyers and its likely to only increase as its showcased and more people become aware of it.
On the back of this, Tesla also released a new video of the Cybertruck which shows it driving through off-road terrain which gives the impression that it is computer-generated video footage. According to the caption shared on Cybertruck’s official X page, it is actual “in-real-life” footage.
With the amount of promotional content and initiatives Tesla is undertaking with its halo vehicle, the Cybertruck, it’s likely to catch the imagination of thousands of people to consider the brand as a technological leader in EVs, helping the brand sell more of its main-stream Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
We look forward to seeing the reception of the Cybertruck as it’s showcased in more international markets and hope that it makes an appearance in Australia in the coming years for thousands of locals who are eagerly waiting.
