Tesla adds the new Model 3 to referral program in Australia

Tesla has started to offer referral credits as part of its referral program for the recently refreshed Model 3 in Australia, providing existing customers incentives to refer their family and friends to buy the EV. That’s in a bid to sell more cars in Australia during 2024 than the company has done in any other year.

On top of that, existing Tesla customers can also purchase another Tesla and receive double the referral credits. The latest update was first reported by driveteslacanada, highlighting the new Model 3 being added to the referral program in not only Australia but Europe as well.

All of these markets receive Tesla vehicles from the Shanghai factory in China, hinting that the increased production in the factory needs to be sold, hence the re-introduction of these incentives.

These referral credits can be used to redeem various physical and in-car software items from Tesla’s shop, including:

  • Tesla vehicle accessories
  • Tesla apparel and merchandise
  • Gen 3 wall connector
  • Supercharging kilometres

This is one unique way that Tesla can increase sales as the company continues to increase production.

The newly refreshed Model 3 sedan was unveiled in September 2023 and made available for ordering in several markets, including Australia. First local deliveries of the new Model 3 began in December with large numbers expected in Q1 2024.

Tesla’s new Model 3 starts at $61,900 before on-roads and has several key improvements over the previous model.

This includes the range of the vehicle. The new RWD and Long Range variants keep the existing battery packs but now offer an increased 513 km and 629 km of WLTP range respectively. This is up from 491 km and 602 km respectively.

Part of this range upgrade has been due to aerodynamic improvements with the coefficient of drag being lowered to 0.219 from 0.225.

On the inside, the upgraded Model 3 is quieter along with having a better sound system. While Tesla is offering a more plush interior, the stalks behind the steering wheel will no longer be carried over from the current model.

New paints have also been added to this car with the ultra-red and stealth-grey colours which are slightly deeper in appearance compared to the previous variations of these colours.

Other changes on the outside include new taillights and rear indicator placements. The indicator light is longer than the smaller LED strips seen in the current model.

The new Tesla Model 3 under the referral program is even better value, encouraging more people to consider one.
