Savic Motorcycles, an Australian electric motorcycle startup has this month undertaken high-speed testing of its upcoming motorcycle.Ā

The company says it successfully undertook advanced testing sessions at the iconic Phillip Island race track in Victoria. It says this is a major milestone in the development of the Australian-made electric motorcycle which it calls the C-Series.Ā

On November 4 at the track, the Savic team tested the C-Series to validate and tune the motorcycle with its custom-built control software.Ā

This testing involved taking the bikes up to a top speed of 170 km/h, undertaking high-load testing for endurance, and reviewing thermal management systems under demanding conditions.

On top of this, the team’s goal was to test the newly designed production-grade suspension which has been designed to significantly improve on-road handling.

After undertaking the testing event at Phillip Island, Dennis Savic, CEO and founder of Savic Motorcycles shared what the testing session meant to the team: “Our day at Phillip Island was a glimpse into the future of electric motorcycles,”.

“We’re not just testing the limits of what’s possible. Getting so close to hitting our goal speed is a testament to the team’s hard work and the incredible potential of our motorcycles.”

The advanced testing also showcased the prototype’s ability to undergo rigorous high-load and speed testing. The company coined this as ā€œpushing the boundaries of electric mobility.ā€

Savic Motorcycles is manufacturing Australia’s first high-performance electric road bike that’s designed and assembled in Australia for passionate motorcyclists who care about the future by moving away from ICE motorcycles.

The C-Series motorcycle includes an electric motorcycle drivetrain that had to be integrated into a lightweight aluminium frame with the classic lines of the iconic motorcycle.Ā

In the Alpha variant, it produces up to 60 kW of power. This variant has a starting price of $26,990.

It includes a 16.2kWh battery and 60kW motor that delivers 200Nm torque and acceleration to 100km/hr in 3.5 seconds in its top-of-the-range format.

With the new milestone on track testing achieved, the C-Series motorcycle is looking closer to first deliveries. According to Savic’s website, deliveries are expected to begin in December this year.
