Volvo has officially unveiled the EM90 electric people mover Ā – and its key specifications, including bidirectional charging – as it ramps up its shift to a fully electric fleet.
The all-electric people mover will be powered by a single motor that turns the rear wheels, delivering up to 200 kW of power. It helps the EM90 get from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds.

This drivetrain is fed by a 116 kWh battery pack that will be capable of delivering up to 738 km of range under the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) measurement. On the WLTP cycle, that figure is likely to be closer to 600 km, although real world range on highways will be even lower.
This battery pack can also be charged from 10-80% in just 30 minutes along with offering bi-directional charging capabilities.Ā
According to Volvo, the bi-directional capabilities allow customers to āuse the battery of the EM90 as a power bank to charge other electric cars and appliances.ā

On the outside, Volvoās signature āthor-hammerā headlights are on offer along with an illuminated grille.Ā
A choice between 19 or 20-inch wheels designed to optimise range and improve efficiency is also available to customers. When it comes to colours, this people mover will be offered in four colours.
Moving onto the inside, there is a 15.4-inch infotainment screen for the driver as well as a special 15.6-inch screen thatās mounted to the roof. The latter folds down when required to entertain the family or to take a ābusiness video meeting even with a camera when neededā.

A 21-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system will offer an acoustic experience for all occupants.
Volvo has been known for safety and with the EM90, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) keep that theme going. The EM90 ADAS uses advanced computing power to run all-around sensor sets to enhance safety for occupants and other road users. These include:
- High-definition cameras
- Surround-view cameras
- A millimetre wave radar
- A suite of ultrasonic radars

This all-electric people mover will be offered with 6 seats and is available for pre-orders in China. More on the global launch plans are likely to be announced in the coming months.
