Three new EV fast charging stations have been added to the WA electric vehicle network, Australia’s longest EV charging network, in the city of Karratha and the towns of Exmouth and Kununurra.

Following the launch of fast chargers in Perth and Carnarvon in September, the WA EV Network has added new facilities at the Ningaloo Aquarium and Discovery Centre in Exmouth, the Karratha City Shopping Centre carpark in Karratha, and in the network’s northernmost town of Kununurra.

Both the Karratha and Kununurra sites have a single 150kW fast charger, while the Exmouth charging station has two fast chargers.

Operated by local energy providers Synergy and Horizon Power, the WA EV Network is part of WA’s $43.5 million investment to boost EV infrastructure across the state, with plans to install 98 charging stations in 49 locations which will connect the capital of Perth with regional WA.

“Western Australia’s transition to a cleaner, greener electric vehicle future is well underway, with the WA EV Network rolling out across the state,” said Bill Johnston, WA’s energy minister.

According to the WA government, there have been more than 3,200 charging sessions along the WA EV Network since the first charging site went live in Geraldton in April 2023.
