Teslaās superchargers are the industry benchmark when it comes to reliable fast charging infrastructure for EV drivers. Tesla initially started the rollout of its current V3 superchargers in the US and other parts of the world in 2019. These chargers are capable of 250 kW in charging speed.
Four years later in 2023, the next generation of superchargers, the new V4 superchargers with charging up to 350 kW, started to be rolled out in Europe.
Now it appears that the rollout of Tesla V4 superchargers is expanding into Teslaās home market of the US. This was confirmed by a member of the Tesla Motor Club forum cabbey and reshared on X by Tesla news enthusiast Sawyer Merritt.Ā
BREAKING: @Tesla is officially installing its first V4 Supercharger in the US in Wilsonville, Oregon.
Long term, V4 Superchargers should theoretically enable faster charging speeds. The cables are also 3 ft longer.

This site is located in Wilsonville, Oregon and appears to have 8 V4 supercharger stalls. This site is also located behind a Costco as seen in one of the photos shared by Make Shift Happen on X.
Another site was also spotted in the neighbouring state of Nevada with four V4 superchargers spotted on a pallet. Itās unclear at this stage as to the total number of chargers at this site but, according to C Anagani on X, itās likely to be up and running this month.

Design-wise, the new V4 supercharger units are taller and have longer cables. The cable length has been increased from 1.98 meters to 2.98 meters.Ā
As previously spotted in Europe, the newer cable on these units can easily reach the charging port on non-Tesla EVs while parked in the available parking bays.Ā
Recent sightings in Europe have also confirmed the placement of a credit card reader along with a screen to show payment being taken by non-Tesla EV drivers when charging there.Ā
A video of this was seen from the UK showcasing the new system on the V4 superchargers. It also showed what the new card-reader screen displays.
Previously, the only option available for non-Tesla EVs at those charging stations had been to sign up to the Tesla app and select the āCharger your non-Teslaā setting.
With Tesla continuing to innovate and now expanding its latest charging hardware outside of Europe, itās only a matter of time before it starts rapid expansion of this V4 supercharger rollout.
Locally in Australia, Tesla recently opened 30 of its sites to non-Tesla EVs. Since that announcement, EV owners of non-Tesla EVs have hundreds more chargers available to them.
