Chinese car maker BYD has opened its first Megastore in Alexandria, Sydney, the first of many planned in Australia to showcases EV and battery technology to Australian consumers, and provide an educational experience in the world of electric cars and the future of transport.Ā

According to BYD, it’s a ā€œworld-firstā€ concept that lays out the technology, quality and affordability of EVs in a way not yet seen in Australia or around the world.Ā

Luke Todd, the CEO of EVDirect.com, which is the exclusive partner of BYD in Australia, said the Megastore concept was unique.

ā€œThe Megastore’s only comparison would be the mass-scale automotive exhibitions in Shanghai or Germany which are held every few years,” he said.

ā€œThis towering experience centre is set to reimagine the way consumers relate to and acquire electric vehicles.” BYD has already been one of the most successful EV brands in the country, with the BYD Atto 3 selling more than 10,000 units, and is soon to release the sub-$40,000 BYD Dolphin.

“With prices starting from $38,890 drive away, I believe BYD cars are the best value EV cars on the market,ā€ Todd said.

The Dolphin is one of the very few electric cars that offer premium paint colours at no cost to the customer. Another vehicle that will join the line-up is the performance-focused BYD Seal sedan.

“What we wanted to do is create an experience that is more about people understanding the brand and immersing themselves in the technology … and realising that switching to an EV is not as difficult as they may think,” Todd said.

The BYD Megastore in Alexandria, NSW, opens to the public this Saturday with other locations to be announced in the coming months.
