Less than a week after unveiling the new 2024 Tesla Model 3, Tesla has released the owner’s manual in certain markets of its upcoming quieter, more efficient electric sedan.

The newly released manual showcases a blind spot indicator located near the A-pillar which is closer to the drive-side mirror on the inside of the new Model 3. In case there is a vehicle in the car’s blind spot, a red light will illuminate to indicate it.

Tesla puts it in the new Model 3 owner’s manual by writing: ā€œYour vehicle is equipped with a blind spot indicator located in the upper speaker grill of the driver door.ā€

Owners can turn the blinds spot indicator from within their vehicles by touching:

  • Controls > Lights > Blind Spot Indicator

Previously, Tesla vehicles indicated vehicles and objects in the blind spot by showing various radiating colours from the animated vehicle on the touch screen.

White colour indicates objects that are not in close proximity, meanwhile yellow, orange and red colours are displayed, the closer the object is.Ā

According to the manual, these colours don’t appear when the car is driving slower than 12 km/h or greater than 140 km/h.

For blindspots, in particular, Tesla has also rolled out a chime that can be activated along with blind spot cameras that turn on when indicators are switched on or via the camera icon found in the menu.

Tesla is known for having some of the safest cars in the market and with the updated Model 3, the safety features list continues to grow.

One of these new features includes extra reinforcement in the doors of the new Model 3. This was noted in a recent review by Robert Llewellyn, who got to test drive the newest Model 3 on the streets of Oslo in Norway.Ā

This came in the form of side impact protection in the doors which has improved compared to the current generation Model 3. This alone takes safety considerations by Tesla to another level for its entry-level sedan.

It will also help the new Model 3 fare well in ANCAP testing to help it improve the already stunning five-star score the Model Y received in 2022 from EuroNCAP.

With a strong focus on driver and passenger safety, the new blind spot indicator is another feature that will please current and future buyers of Australia’s second-best-selling EV.Ā
