BYD has quickly become a well-known name amongst the EV community in Australia, thanks to its popular electric SUV model, the BYD Atto 3. Australia was one of the first export markets for BYDās electric model range and within 18 months, thousands of BYDās have made it onto local roads.
Now the brand is continuing its expansion and has started to enter multiple markets. A new report from cnevpost reveals that 6 models have been showcased at an automotive show, IAA Mobility, in Munich, Germany. These included:
- BYD Seal – officially launched in Europe
- BYD Song Plus EV
- BYD Atto 3
- BYD Dolphin
- BYD Han
- Denza D9 – a model from BYDās luxury brand

The BYD Seal was officially launched for Europe at the show, with a starting price of ā¬44,900 for the base model and ā¬50,990 for the top-of-the-range spec variant.
The other unique vehicle on display included the Song Plus EV which could potentially be called the Seal-U in other markets. This electric SUV is 4,785 mm in length which is 330 mm longer than the Atto 3. Itās expected to go on sale in Europe in the coming months, making it a likely candidate for Australia in the coming 18 months.
Denza is a luxury brand by BYD in China with the D9 being a luxury people mover.Ā
BYD also had a record sales month in August, selling over 274,386 NEVs (new energy vehicles). 25,023 of them were for exports, but this is expected to riseĀ as the global expansion of the once-battery maker, continues rapidly.
In Europe specifically, BYD plans to build a manufacturing plant. According to local publications, France is a top candidate for the location of this EV manufacturing hub.
As of today, the BYD Atto 3 and BYD Dolphin are the only two models available to order in Australia with the BYD Seal to follow next.Ā
