The Royal Australian Mint is playing host to six new EV fast-chargers, making it the largest fast charging station in the nation’s capital, which has the highest rate of EV uptake in the country.
The six new EV chargers are made by Kempower and were installed by energy company Engie and are operating under the Chargefox network.
Five of the six new chargers use the CCS2 plugs and offer charging at either 150kW for 800v EVs or 80kW for 400v EVs. Meanwhile, the sixth charger boasts a CHAdeMO plug and offers charging at 50kW.
“Canberra has the highest rate of EV ownership per capita in Australia, with almost 5,300 electric vehicles currently registered in the ACT. We know Canberrans are eager to make the switch to electric, so it’s critical that our infrastructure keeps up with the demand as it continues to increase,” said ACT energy minister Shane Rattenbury.
“There are now more than 100 public EV chargers in the ACT, providing the EV drivers with charging options across the city.”
The EV chargers are already available on the PlugShare website and working smoothly, according to several EV owners who have already made use of the new chargers.
