Jeep has announced that it will be bringing its Avenger electric SUV to Australia. It’s the first fully electric Jeep model that will be offered in the local market with an arrival set for 2024.
This compact electric SUV from Jeep is produced at its parent company Stellantis’ plant in Tychy, Poland.
“The Jeep Avenger represents a key milestone for the Jeep brand, our first zero exhaust emission SUV,” said Michael Filazzola, Jeep Australia’s managing director.
“A compact SUV, the Avenger will provide a new entry point to the Jeep range while adding another level of electrification to our offering in Australia and represents a further step in the Jeep brand’s evolution.”
The Jeep Avenger is considered to be the most “compact” Jeep on offer, coming in at 4,084 mm. In comparison, the BYD Atto 3 which is a mid-sized SUV comes in at 4,455 mm long.
According to Jeep, the Avenger can comfortably carry five people with luggage due to the improved use of interior space in the cabin.
The upcoming model has a 10.25-inch infotainment screen.
Not a lot of details were shared on the powertrain setup but a WLTP range of 400 km was stated by Jeep Australia. With fast charging the company estimates that the vehicle’s battery pack can also be charged from 20-80% in 24 minutes.
In the European market, according to EVDB, the Avenger is available with a 54 kWh battery pack that can be fast charged at up to 100 kW of DC fast charging speeds.
The same source suggests pricing in the UK of around £35,700 which equates to $A71,100. It’s likely to be less locally than the UK given their higher tax rates for goods sold.
On the safety front, the Avenger comes with a series of features including:
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Autonomous Emergency Braking with Vulnerable Road Users (pedestrian and cyclist) protection
- Automatic parking
- 180-degree rear camera with a “drone” view
The Avenger was first unveiled 10 months ago and has won the European Car of the Year 2023 award along with various other industry awards since its launch.
Customer deliveries of the new Avenger will begin at Jeep dealers in the second half of 2024 and registration of interest on the car has also opened on Jeep’s website for those interested.
Pricing and detailed specifications will be released closer to the launch next year.
