A truckload of new MG4 electric hatchbacks has been spotted in Sydney ahead of the imminent arrival of one of Australiaās most affordable EVs, and the first to be priced at less than $40,000.
Four MG4 vehicles were spotted in Sydney by AmazingEV and shared by EV enthusiast, Ludicrous Feed on Twitter.
These vehicles were in three colours including one in silver and white, along with two in blue. The iconic volcano orange was not one of them.

Some of the shots shared were taken up close revealing some interesting details. All four appear to have the same wheels which look closer to the Excite variant.
Along with that, all four vehicles have wing mirrors folded in, indicating that all variants might be arriving with automatic folding mirrors.
One of the close up of the tyres shows that MG will be bringing the MG4 in with Continental PremiumContact C tyres.
There was another shot shared of the white vehicle sitting on top of the truck cab. Looking at the underside of this MG4 shows lots of underbody scuff protection.Ā

On the back of this sighting, there were several comments from EV fans who have been waiting for these to land since its original launch. āI canāt decide if Iād get blue or orange. Iām over monochromatic cars so theyāre the only two options as far as Iām concerned šā, one replied.
The MG is offered in four variants. The Excite version of the is one of The Drivenās affordable pick EVs to hit the market in the last couple of years with a starting price of $39,990 before on-road costs.Ā
As part of this price, there is a lot of car on offer including a 51 kWh battery pack that offers up to 350 km of WLTP range.Ā
This battery pack is paired with a 125 kW motor that can get the car to get to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 7.7 seconds. The AC charging speed on this car is 6.6 kW while DC can bump that up to 88 kW.
Unlike the MG ZS EV, the MG4 will be the first to use MGās Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) with a skateboard-like design and a rear-wheel drive powertrain paired with a thinner battery design.

As of July 2023, MG has put an expression of interest form on the MG4 website for those interested in securing a spot in the MG4 order queue.
With the latest spotting of a new batch of MG4 vehicles in the country, itās very positive for hundreds of drivers across the country looking at making the switch to an affordable electric hatchback.
We look forward to test-driving this in the coming months and bringing you what affordable EVs hitting Australia this year are really like – stay tuned.
