St Baker’s Evie Networks plans fast charge into North America market

Leading Australian EV fast-charging company Evie Networks has announced plans to establish a North American headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, from where it plans to expand its operations across the continent.

Evie Networks will use its new North American headquarters to establish EV charging stations across Arizona, with the first charging sites to be up and running within 18 months.

“By expanding our operations in the United States, Evie Networks aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and improve the sustainability of the transportation sector in the US,’’ said Chris Mills, Evie Network’s managing director.

The announcement appears to be yet further proof of the success of the United States’ Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which offers incentives for clean technology and electric vehicle companies to build locally.

The Biden administration has pledged $US30 billion for the electrification of the United States’ transportation network over the next three or four years.

Evie Networks, which was founded in 2017 with the goal of building Australia’s largest EV fast-charging network and is backed by Trevor St Baker’s innovation fund, already has more than 350 sites in build or development across the country.

The company is hoping to replicate its Australian model in the US by targeting sites where people work, live, and play.
