New camera views added to Tesla EVs in Australia

Tesla has rolled out a new feature with its latest over-the-air (OTA) update to drivers in Australia. This includes the ability for owners to be able to see many more cameras and the view they provide than what’s been able to be accessed previously.

The preview of up to nine cameras can be accessed which includes:

  • 3 frontal cameras (located on windscreen)
  • Two repeater cameras (on side fenders of the car)
  • Two forward facing cameras (on the B-pillar of the car)
  • One cabin camera
  • One rear-view camera

Tesla drivers can view all cameras with the latest update by going to:

  • Tap Controls
    • Then tap “Service Menu”

Previously, owners have not had access to the B-Pillar forward-facing cameras.

These cameras allow Tesla owners to get a better understanding of what the car can see as well as validate that the cameras are functioning properly.

This also helps owners to be more familiar with the camera angles that the car can see and any potential blind spots.

With further improvements in hardware of vehicles on the way for new Tesla models that have higher resolution Hardware 4 (HW4) cameras with a greater field of view and an updated computer, it’s great to see Tesla supporting and improving the existing fleet in Australia.

These improvements reflect Tesla’s continued commitment to innovation and improving the overall ownership experience for tens of thousands of owners in Australia.
