BYD lands 750 new Atto 3 EVs in Victoria as government slams shut the subsidies

BYD has landed 750 new Atto 3 EVs in Victoria to help more customers take advantage of the Victorian EV subsidy which will be removed by the end of the month.

These cars are in Melbourne and are available for Victorians looking at getting behind the wheel of an EV while taking advantage of the $3,000 subsidy that will be around only for another two weeks.

With the rebate, the price of an Atto 3 will be under $50,000 making it one of the most affordable electric SUVs on the market.

The company’s website where the cars can be ordered also has a new banner at the top that states:

“Victorian ZEV Rebate Customers – Simply place your order on an Atto 3 by midnight 28 June and our team will be in contact with you”

On top of the 750 EVs currently, at a large parking lot in Melbourne, BYD also has plans to deliver thousands more EVs to Victorians before the end of this year. Another 2,000 are also heading to the state.

These vehicles will include all colours currently offered on the BYD Atto 3 including some newer colours which weren’t available when the car was launched over 12 months ago.

Vehicles in the lot in Melbourne included white, blue, grey, red and the most recently added green.

This makes a total of 2,750 EVs that have been allocated by BYD to help Victorians take advantage of the $3,000 subsidy, which at the time of this announcement, had just over 2,350 subsidies remaining.

The BYD Atto 3 has been a fairly popular EV with 4,664 sold in Australia so far.

Locally in Victoria, the latest data from carloop for 2023 shows 1,058 BYD Atto 3 EVs delivered by the end of May in 2023.

That’s 22.7% of all BYD Atto 3 EVs sold in Australia that have ended up on Victorian roads.

With such a high proportion of BYD’s customer base in Victoria, it’s good to see more Atto 3s available in the last couple of weeks of the subsidy being pulled from the state.

This initiative not only helps more EVs in Victoria but with the overall Australian EV adoption in what’s to be the biggest year for EV uptake nationally.
