MG earlier this year launched its ground-up EV in Europe. Itās the city EV hatch, the MG 4. Now it has received a whole five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
The new MG 4 has scored an excellent overall safety score when tested by Euro NCAP under the stricter testing 2022 protocol.
The MG 4 scored quite well for all 4 key areas being a city hatchback. The awarded results from Euro NCAP were:
- 78% for Safety Assist features
- 83% for Adult Occupant protection
- 80% for Child Occupant protection
- 75% for Vulnerable Road User protection
MG Motor says it will launch its MG 4 electric hatchback in Australia in the first half of 2023. This would be great for many Australian drivers looking for a smaller ground-up EV.
The MG 4 powertrain includes a 64kWh battery which can deliver charge to the 150kW motor located in the rear. There is also a 51 kWh version that has 125 kW of power with a top speed of 160 km/h.
There is also a spacious cabin that seats five people. The front driver and passenger have a large infotainment screen with a relatively minimalist design of the cabin.Ā
The five-star safety rating in Europe will more than likely translate to a five star ANCAP rating here in Australia when the car is launched. We look forward to seeing local safety testing of this EV hatchback as it could be a big seller with larger fleets across Australia.
