BYD has produced and delivered 3 million new energy vehicles (NEV). This vehicle happened to be a pure EV, its highly anticipated EV sedan, the BYD Seal.
It held an event at its Shenzhen-based head office to officially mark this milestone after the 3 million vehicles rolled off the production line. The BYD Seal was delivered to leading womenās football player, Wang Shuang.

BYDās NEV production journey has been quite interesting and the scale of its production ramp-up is only just been seen.Ā
It took 13 years for the company to produce its first 1 million NEVs. Getting from 1 million to 3 million NEVs only took the next 18 months. The last million took only 6 months.
In October, BYD produced over 217,000 NEVs with 103,000 pure battery EVs. These include models like the BYD Dolphin, Seal and Atto 3.

The companyās success in its local market is leading to its launching in many international markets with Australia being one of the first to see pure EVs from BYD.Ā
The BYD Atto 3 launch has seen thousands of local orders in Australia, reinforcing the need for more affordable EVs in this market.
Last month in October, BYD became Australiaās second best-selling EV brand and that lead is only set to continue with EV deliveries only set to ramp.
With the ramp-up of NEVs production and mass exports to Australia and Europe just starting, BYD would be a brand worth paying attention to as Australia transitions towards decarbonising transport and meeting emission reduction targets.
Having reviewed the BYD Atto 3 in Sydney back in August and more recently in Melbourne, there arenāt many ground-up EVs that come close to what the car offers at the price it does.Ā

Thatās before their newer models like the one delivered as the 3 millionth car and the even more affordable hatchback the BYD Dolphin reaches our shores.Ā
Many of these EVs from BYD and other affordable brands would be ideal for fleets that really need more EV choices to transition and help reduce ICE vehicles off our roads.Ā
