Last-mile delivery EVs debut at Paris Motor Show

German electric vehicle manufacturer e.GO has unveiled two new last-mile electric vehicles (EVs) at the Paris Motor Show.

Known in full as Next.e.GO Mobile SE, the EV maker has dubbed the first last-mile EV with the equally awkward name of e.wave X.

The e.wave X wasn’t the only car to star for e.GO, who also introduced the e.Xpress, a compact electric commercial last-mile delivery vehicle with a cargo volume of up to 940 litres with a gross payload of up to 240kg.

Available with an exchangeable battery, the e.Xpress is expected to deliver an urban range of up to 230 kilometres and a battery exchange of only a few minutes.

Ali Vezvaei, chairman of the board of e.GO, says the company’s focus is on “simplicity, practicality and circularity.”

“Offering an urban EV with a charging solution that is as fast and as convenient as traditional fuelling, yet not as heavy on the planet’s limited resources or the energy infrastructure, or providing customers with access to innovative financial solutions that can empower their sustainable mobility choice are reflections of that commitment,” he said in a statement.

The e.Xpress has been developed between e.GO and American technology and energy solution provider Ample.

Additionally, e.GO also announced the beginning of a partnership with German fintech company OneFor. Instant personal car loans of up to €25,000 will be made available to customers looking to buy a car with e.GO, with fixed interest rates and a payback period of up to 84 months.

The independent EV maker has developed its own battery EV platform, known as “e.” alongside plans to build micro-factories which the company claims “is a completely disruptive approach to producing electric vehicles.”
