Škoda teases upcoming Vision 7S electric crossover

Czech automaker Škoda took to Twitter this week to tease the first exterior sketches of its new Vision 7S seven-seater electric crossover, which features the company’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language.

With relatively few seven-seater EVs on the market, it is likely to be a welcome addition to the auto market – once it goes into production form.

Set to debut on August 30 in Europe, the Škoda Vision 7S has been kept under fairly tight wraps, as have hints of the company’s new design language.

Speaking earlier this year, then-CEO Thomas Schäfer – who has since moved to Volkswagen as its Chief Operating Officer – promised regarding Škoda’s Modern Solid design language, “There will be a real wow moment – both for our customers and for our competition, too.”

In advance of the upcoming debut, Škoda published a pair of exterior design sketches on their Twitter account on Tuesday, giving a first look at the new design language.

A number of design cues can be noticed for those who know what to look for. A thin vertical headlight stack tapers into a daytime running light strip that fades into what should be a non-functional black grille. The lower section of the front bumper shows what looks like a silver bash plate and a six-slot air intake panel under the emblazoned “VISION 7S” logo.

The sidelines are relatively smooth before tapering into a broad line across the wheel arches which have a juxtaposed sharp and angular design. The rear mirrors the front with similar lighting and rear bumper.

These are not the first sketches to be released showing glimpses of the Vision 7S. Škoda released two design sketches in July and August giving a vague glimpse into the interior of the Vision 7S, including a birds-eye look at the car’s seven-seating interior.

A second design sketch highlighted a shadowy view of the upfront display, including a free-standing vertically aligned infotainment screen which is set to be a first for Škoda.

According to Škoda, the symmetrical “wrap-around” design of the interior “gives all passengers a sense of security” and a “flat, wide instrument panel, which extends to the doors, emphasising the width of the interior.”
