A mammoth project to install over 1,300 EV chargers at Los Angeles International Airport, better known as LAX, is nearing completion.

According to a report last week from local Los Angeles TV station KTLA, the installation of over 1,300 EV chargers at LAX is nearly complete, with a mix of Level 2 and DC Fast Charging options located dispersed between the central parking structures and the economy parking lot.

So far there are 832 EV chargers already installed and operational, with around 600 located in the central parking structures located in the middle of the terminals.

The remaining 500 or so EV chargers are expected to be installed and operational by year’s end.

ABM, the parking logistics company handling the installation of the EV chargers, says that it’s one of the largest EV charging station programs in the United States.

ABM also operates autonomous robots which patrol parking spaces so as to ensure that cars are parked where they should be and charging spaces aren’t being taken up by ICE vehicles.

EV parking can also be reserved using the Parking.FlyLAX.com website which can show available parking spots including those with a charger. A $US2 connection fee is standard for all charging stations in addition to $US0.45/kWh for EV chargers at both the central parking and economy parking lots.
