With over 75,000 models already delivered around the globe, the Porsche Taycan is receiving a software upgrade.
The German automaker announced on Wednesday that all Taycan models regardless of vehicle age, engine, and body, will be brought up to date with the 2023 model year.
Depending on when their specific Taycan was delivered, customers can expect to see an increase in powertrain efficiency as well as new functions and improvements in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM), Porsche Connect, and assistance systems.
The update will also provide the option of having individual functions and equipment unlocked after purchase and will also enhance the over-the-air (OTA) update capability of all Taycan models.
Let’s hope it includes an improvement in the “helicopter view” of the reverse camera which distorts the size of cars next to the vehicle when parking in parallel spaces.
Free for all customers, the software update will nevertheless have to be carried out at a Porsche service workshop. Similarly, the length of the visit needed to a workshop is dependent on the specific software status of the Taycan in question – meaning that the older the car is, the more improvements will need to be installed and the longer the installation will need.
“This campaign will allow our customers to benefit from the continuous further development of the Taycan,” said Kevin Giek, vice president model line Taycan.
“We have extensively optimised the model series in almost every respect since 2019. New functions have been added and others have been revised or tweaked to further enhance the customer experience.
“Following this update, anyone driving a Taycan from early in the car’s production run will be pleasantly surprised by how much has developed on the vehicle side since then.”
