Tyre and automotive repair network mycar Tyre & Auto has revealed it has upskilled eight of its workshops with EV-ready trained technicians, and plans to open another 22 by August.
The announcement on Thursday lists 30 mycar auto workshops in total across all states of Australia, and the capital territory.
With EV uptake in Australia on the rise, it is not a moment too soon. In 2021, more than 20,000 new EVs hit Australia roads, a tripling of EV sales from 2021.
Adam Pay, Managing Director of mycar, said in a statement that mycar wants to meet the needs of all its customers. “The EV market in Australia is growing and we want to ensure our customers have a trusted auto expert ready to deliver quality service regardless of the vehicle they own – electric, hybrid, petrol or diesel.”
All in all, mycar says it now has 35 technicians now trained for the increasing fleet of electric vehicles in Australia.
“Through Kangan Institute’s Automotive Centre of Excellence in Victoria, we have trained a dedicated team of technicians from various locations around Australia. They are ready to service and provide support to EV owners,” said Pay.
“In addition to this being a convenient and easy option for EV owners, it’s also an exciting time for our team as they have the opportunity to grow and develop new skills as the EV market expands.”
From August, mycar says it will add EV servicing packages to its logbook servicing offerings. It also underlined that EVs are welcome across all its 276 stores nationwide for services such as tyre replacements, rotations and balancing, as well as other things like wipers and globe replacements.
