Just another day in the life of a happy EV owner

Each morning I wake up, check there are no grandchildren in the bed – they sleep over 2 nights a week – and go and make coffee.

While we drink our coffee my lovely wife and I scroll through our ipads and check the day’s events. I read TheDriven.io and she reads Facebook, looking for royal news and gemstone posts. She is an avid faceter.

Then I check my Tesla shares. Most mornings I have cause to get excited. We eat tonight!

This morning we had to go to the local servo for a top up of the tyree pressure. I also checked the price of petrol, saying a silent prayer of thankfulness that I drive an EV and no longer have fossil price anxiety, and proceeded to take my two granddaughters to school.

The girls (5 & 7) love the Disney Karoake in the car and they always sing along. When we arrived, two boys on bikes ride past the car mouthing the word “Tesla” – I can’t hear them over “Let it go!”

On the drive home we come across a V8 Commodore filled with boys who wanted to play. Even though they lost the drag, they appreciated some competition. I wonder what it will be like when we are all in EVs. I fear there might be a few accidents to start with as the young ones get used to all that instant torque.

I spent a wonderful day reading reports, EV specs and suggestions and then writing up articles. Then it’s back up to school to pick up the girls and take them to the park to burn off some excess energy. A couple of mums in the park spot the Tesla and ask innumerable questions.

Their kids entertained our grandkids while we tried to answer those questions. One mum seemed to be really interested in looking at a Model X, but the other – on hearing that the Model 3 is now coming from China – said she just couldn’t bring herself to buy anything from China. I didn’t point out the obvious.

Off home, bath, dinner, homework, stories and bed. We were pretty tired so I don’t think we will stay up much longer. Got to get our rest, so we can do it all again tomorrow.
