Peugeot to bring two plug-in hybrid cars to Australia

French automaker Peugeot has announced that Australians will soon be able to order plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants of the brand’s popular 3008 SUV and 508 Fastback models.

The PHEVs will be the first electrified Peugeot vehicles to arrive on Australian shores and are due to arrive in the first quarter of 2022.

The Peugeot 3008 GT Sport Plug-in Hybrid AWD will be priced at $79,990, offering up to 60-kilometres (WLTP) of electric driving range with 222kW of power from a 13.2kWh battery and a combination of a 147kW PureTech engine and two electric motors – one at the front with 81kW and a second on the rear train with 83kW.

The Peugeot 508 GT Fastback Plug-in Hybrid will be priced slightly lower at $76,990 and will offer up to 55-kilometres (WLTP) of electric driving range from a 11.8kWh battery delivering 165kW of power as a result of a 133kW PureTech engine with an 81kW electric motor.

Kate Gillis, the head of Peugeot Australia, said the introduction of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles will allow Peugeot to reach a new audience of Australian consumers.

“Peugeot’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicles offer our customers versatility, allowing them to experience 100% electric driving whilst maintaining the choice to utilise the traditional combustion engine for longer journeys,” she said.

Both Peugeots will come with a range of additional features including a suite of advanced safety technologies, the Peugeot i-Cockpit with a configurable 12.3-inch head-up digital instrument panel and a 10-inch high-definition capacitive touch screen.
