All-electric Genesis GV60 joins lineup as its sportiest vehicle to date

Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury auto brand, has shared more images and details of its upcoming GV60 all-electric crossover which will come to Australia in 2022.

Following the Genesis nomenclature in which larger numbers convey elegance and smaller numbers convey “youthful athleticism”, the GV60 is only available in an electric drivetrain.

The ‘G’ in GV60 stands for Genesis, while the ‘V’ stands for versatility. The number “60” stands for the position in the Genesis model series and makes the GV60 its sportiest vehicle to date.

The front of the GV60 has a design optimised for this electric car. The iconic and progressive quad lights in two-line design give the refined and voluminous body a character.

A wider and sportier grille was placed below the Quad lights to emphasize the dynamic performance of the GV60 and to increase the cooling efficiency of the high-voltage batteries in the underbody.

The GV60 also has a new wing badge on the grille. The thickness of the previous emblem has been reduced by almost 80 percent. It features the same unique guilloché pattern of interlaced ribbons that is often seen on luxury watches, showing the brand’s direction towards a luxurious driving experience with high-tech innovations.

In addition, Genesis has opted for a “clamshell hood” for the first time, which combines the bonnet and fenders in a single element, thus completing the elegant impression of the electric car.

A simple but sharp silhouette that extends from the bonnet to the rear spoiler, completing the sporty look. The chrome line that runs from the windshield to the top edge of the Daylight Opening (DLO) window continues in the C-pillar, which embodies the image of the electric car and gives it a distinctive feature.

The digital side mirrors contribute to a state-of-the-art appearance, while the automatically flush exterior door handles underline the smooth lines.

At the rear, the two-line taillights take on a dynamic shape. A fixed wing spoiler at the rear accentuates the coupé-like roof and underlines the image of dynamic high performance.

The shoulder volume is emphasized in the rear fender to create a low and wide profile and further emphasize the image of high performance by combining it with technical functions such as sensors, taillights and turn signals in the lower area.

The interior design of the GV60 adopts the Genesis design ethos, the “beauty of the white space,” creating a spacious and comfortable interior. The most striking feature in the interior design of the GV60 is the Crystal Sphere, a spherical electronic transmission control that intuitively informs the driver about oncoming vehicles.

The Crystal Sphere has mood lights that illuminate when the vehicle is switched off and make the driving experience even more aesthetic. The center console, in which the Crystal Sphere is located, appears to be floating. Together with other features of a fully electric platform, such as the slim cockpit and flat floor, it offers passengers a new level of spaciousness.

The GV60 also uses a uniform interior design with circular details on the Crystal Sphere, the horn cover, the door handles and the side mirrors.

Full specifications and pricing for Australia will be announced closer to launch.
