Electric Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo deliveries kick off in Australia

The first all-electric Porsche Taycan Cross Turismos have landed in Australia, ahead of deliveries to first customers in September.

First announced for the Australian market in March, the Taycan Cross Turismo is available in three variants starting at $176,600 for the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo.

It is joined by the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo at $205,300 and the Turbo Cross Turismo at $279,000, all before on-roads costs and delivery charges.

While an official launch of the wagon-style electric sportscar has been delayed due to ongoing Covid19 restrictions, a spokesperson for Porsche confirmed that customers in non-restricted states will not have to wait.

And interest has been high. Although it will take a month or two to show official sales figures, Porsche’s spokesperson indicated that the Cross Turismo is gaining interest similar to that of other Taycan variants.

When the Taycan hit the market in early 2021, it made a significant impact accounting for half of Porsche’s sales.

The arrival of the Cross Turismo coincides with the announcement from Porsche that the German carmaker’s 2022 electric models will sport upgrades to connectivity, improved charging and driving range as well as the introduction of an iconic colour range.

Porsche has not provided new charging and range figures as this would ​​also require a new homologation.

The entry-level Taycan has a driving range of up to 369 kilometres (based on Australian design rules testing) and a single motor that produces up to 300kW of power and 345Nm of torque in overboost mode.

The optional Performance Battery Plus add-on extends the range to 434 kilometres and adds 50kW of power and 357Nm of torque.
