British automotive marque Mini says it will release an fully-electric Mini Convertible around 2025, expanding its growing range of electric options.

“The Mini Convertible has a large and particularly loyal fan base,” said Bernd Körber, Head of the Mini brand. “This is also shown by the great demand for the latest, freshly updated model. We are therefore firmly convinced of the success of this vehicle concept for the future.”

Mini has also announced that all its electric vehicles will begin being produced in China in 2023, thanks to its joint venture ‘Spotlight’ with Chinese automaker Great Wall.

The newly promised Mini Convertible is expected to be based on the Mini Hatch, but little else is known at the moment, giving credence to the thought that Mini must have been caught a little off guard by an immediate upswell of interest in an all-electric Mini Convertible.
