British automobile magazine Autocar has reported that Porsche’s new Taycan EV was the company’s biggest seller across the United Kingdom in November, and has outsold the petrol and diesel offerings of other car makers for good measure.
Autocar reported on Tuesday that Porsche had confirmed to them that the Taycan had outsold Porsche’s traditional sales champion, the Macan SUV, through November.
Porsche registered a total of 2,216 new car sales during November – more than mainstream brands such as Citroën and Honda and a 16.7% year-over-year growth against November 2019, although the Covid-19 pandemic has caused year-to-date registrations to fall 10.45% to 12,104 cars.
Autocar had prviously reported that the Porsche Taycan was the leader in the luxury saloon sales category through October, with a total of 1,605 models registered in the UK across the first 9 months of the year – as against 445 Panameras, 607 Mercedes S-Classes, and 901 BMW 7 Series.
Porsche’s success with the Taycan in the UK suggests that the company is making strong headway towards selling over 20,000 globally, as Porsche CEO Oliver Blume promised in late-November.
