French automotive giant Groupe PSA has announced plans to launch in 2021 all-electric versions of its award-winning compact van and associated passenger cars.
Groupe PSA has targeted electrifying 100% of its range of vehicles across all five of its brands – Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel, and Vauxhall – by 2025.
Since 2019, the company has launched all-electric or plug-in hybrid versions of all its new models, and in 2020 the company launched all-electric versions of their medium van (D-Van) and large van (E-Van) models.
In 2021, then, four of Groupe PSA’s brands – Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, and Vauxhall – will complete their line-up with all-electric versions of their compact van (B-Van) and associated passenger cars.
“With these all-electric versions of compact vans and associated passenger cars, Groupe PSA is continuing its electrification offensive and now offers a completely electrified LCV portfolio without compromises on performance,” said Xavier Peugeot, Senior Vice-President of Groupe PSA’s Light Commercial Vehicles Business Unit.
The new generation of Groupe PSA’s compact van has already collected numerous awards including 2019 International Van of the Year, while the passenger car versions were voted the AUTOBEST “Best Buy Car of Europe 2019.
Critical consensus has been backed up by popular approval, with sales exceeding 650,000 units worldwide since the launch in September 2018.
Based on the company’s eCMP electric powertrain, Groupe PSA’s new electric compact vans will be powered by a water-cooled 50kWh electric battery allowing power outputs of up to 100kW, and a 100kW/136hp electric motor.
An on-board charger will allow two charging from two levels of power, 7.4kW single-phase and 11kW three-phase.
