This off-road Tesla Model 3 kit needs to come to Australia

The Tesla Model 3 is one heck of an electric sexy beast – even the Standard Range Plus variant has plenty of oomph in terms of torque and, well, pure excitement.

But as anyone who has driven one will tell you, its low wheelbase is not ideal, sometimes even in city situations, and there are plenty examples of curb rash incidents, not only on the front rims but also on the nose, out there on the internet.

So while Tesla’s first mass-market electric vehicle is available with an all-wheel drive in either the Long Range of Performance option, it’s not really ideal for proper off-road driving.

Until now – a German company by the name of Delta 4×4 has modded a Tesla Model 3, and it has been approved by the local Technical Inspection Association, otherwise known as a TÜV.

According to German car news mag Auto Motor Sport, the request to raise the height of the vehicle came from a Norwegian customer who said his Model 3 could barely navigate into his garage space.

The end result is perfect for the red dirt roads of the Australian outback and we wonder why there is no business doing it here already (if there is – let us know!).

The “off-road” Model 3 in question has been raised 35mm, using a 480 euro ($A778) lift kit, according to a report from German car news mag Auto Motor Sport.

This not only reduces damage from impact with uneven surfaces but ensures awkward changes from steep to flat roads are less an issue.

In addition to the lift kit, Delta 4×4 changed out the 18″ tyres for 245/45 R18 all-terrain tyres, which have a rough profile and are better suited to traction on loose surfaces.

Coupled with a set of vintage-style rims with lock rings, a set of roof racks and front running light completes the off-road Tesla Model 3 picture.
