The National Roads and Motorists’ Association, better known as NRMA, is continuing to roll out its network of electric vehicle fast charging stations along the mid-north coast of Australia, with new installations popping up in Port Macquarie in New South Wales and Mildura in Victoria.
In late November NRMA unveiled a new installation in Port Macquarie, located just off the Pacific Highway in the Lewis Land Group’s Sovereign Place Town Centre in close proximity to cafes, a supermarket, and specialty stores. The new Port Macquarie fast charging station is the 26th of NRMA’s stations in New South Wales.
“We are proud to be further opening up the mid north coast to EV motorists,” said NRMA executive general manager for motoring Nell Payne. “This charger continues our Pacific Highway route enabling connections to Nabiac to the south and Grafton to the north, eventually onwards to Sydney and Queensland.
“At the NRMA we know one of the key reasons motorists in Australia have been hesitant to purchase electric vehicles is because they’re worried about ‘range anxiety’.
“That’s why we’re building this extensive network of chargers in towns like Port Macquarie to safeguard against that happening, and make sure regional areas don’t get left behind because we know regional communities thrive when regional tourism thrives.”
Notably, however, as a keen-eyed Twitter user pointed out, the new Port Macquarie NRMA fast charger is only a few hundred metres up the road from a planned 350 kW Chargefox site – notable for the fact that Chargefox and NRMA are partnered in New South Wales.
Another Twitter user has also shown us that the NRMA has this week opened a new fast charging station in the northwest of Victoria, in Mildura.
