Nine electric car fast chargers made by leading EV infrastructure manufacturer Tritium will form a crucial addition to UEFA and Nissan’s operations hub at the upcoming Champions League football final in Spain next month.
The deal, which was announced by Brisbane-based Tritium with Nissan Intelligent Mobility at the 32nd International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS32) in France this week, will see Tritium’s 50kW Veefil-RT DC chargers showcased alongside 20 22kW AC chargers at the IFEMA event centre near the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Tritium’s 50kW fast chargers can add 50km of range to an electric car in just 10 minutes, have the smallest footprint of any such EV charger in the world and can be installed in a matter of hours.
Tritium will brand them according to the requirements of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, to ensure maximum visibility for Nissan throughout the championship soccer event.
“We have dedicated staff who worked closely with Nissan’s design team to develop the branding and imagery required to maximise Nissan’s visibility during the event, and each charger will sport these ‘skins’ throughout,” said Tritium CEO David Finn in a note by email.
Nissan’s Zero Emission & Ecosystem Director Brice Fabry says the deal with Tritium is a perfect fit for the carmaker which will also use the event to demonstrate its next generation all-electric Leaf.
“The UEFA Champions League is a fantastic showcase for Nissan electric vehicles, and this year we will be doing more than ever to electrify the final in Madrid,” said Fabry in a statement.
“Tritium are able to turn around a turnkey solution for charging infrastructure quickly, so we’re very happy to welcome them to the team.”
For Tritium, which has also just inked a major deal with European charging network Ionity to supply 350kW ultra-fast chargers for 120 sites across Europe, the deal with Nissan aligns with Tritium’s own to drive a zero emissions transport future.
“Nissan has been synonymous with electric vehicles and the Nissan LEAF has pushed E-Mobility to the forefront of the public consciousness,” says Finn.

After the final, two of the chargers will remain at the IFEMA centre while the remaining 7 chargers will be installed at other location in Spain by Nissan.
