Toyota has confirmed plans to bring a battery electric HiLux to Australia during the first half of 2026. The HiLux BEV is based on the same ladder frame chassis as a diesel HiLux, with its main battery pack situated in between the ladder frame. With a relatively small battery and roughly 240 km range, Toyota says the electric HiLux is primarily targeted at back to base operations such as mining although it will be available for private buyers.
Pricing and final specifications will be revealed closer to the launch, but estimates put the starting price at just under $100,000, making it considerably more expensive than a diesel version.
