Chinese car manufacturer Chery launched an electric version of their Omoda 5 SUV, and renamed it the Chery E5. The E5 is pitched at the more affordable end of the market to compete with the BYD Atto 3 and MGS5 EV. An entry level Urban and more premium Ultimate variant are available, both are front-wheel drive with a WLTP driving range of 430 km.
Recent updates to the Chery E5 from mid-2025 include an increase in DC charging speed from 80 to 130 kW, a slightly smaller battery capable of the same driving range due to the electric motor now having less torque but more power.
| Variant | Starting price | Driving range | Battery size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chery E5 Urban | $36990 | 430Km | 59Kwh |
| Chery E5 Ultimate | $40990 | 430Km | 59Kwh |
